Lisa was born in Southern California where she's lived from Big Bear Lake down to the coast of Los Angeles. Her passion for art started at childhood and continues now with a unique form of sculpting with a chainsaw. Lisa has taken local college courses and classes from graphic design to pottery. She enjoyed painting with oils, acrylics, and watercolors in the past but since April of 2002 she has discovered the "saw". Enjoying life in Montana she met a neighbor who's art work had caught her eye. After inquiring what tools were used in creating the sculptures he offered a lesson. After handing her a 180 Stihl Chainsaw and teaching her the basics, she quickly caught on to this form of art. Now sculpting wood up to 22 feet high to 4 feet wide has given Lisa a new dimension and it is truly her passion. As you drive out of Hamilton, Montana going south on Highway 93 at Angler's Roost RV & Campground on the Bitterroot River, you'll find a 10 foot sculpture of a fisherman casting out. As you continue up the highway towards Idaho, at Lost Trail Hot Springs, you'll find commissioned work of Sacagawea, Lewis and Clark and a 22 ft. Chief Joseph. The famed mountain man Jeremiah Johnson and a fisherman pulling in a trout 20 ft away have joined the collection.
On 126-McKenzie River Highway making your way out of Springfield and Eugene, Oregon to Three Sisters and Bend, look for three sculptures: a family of bears, a salmon totem and a mountain lion (pictured above) on the west side of the road, just outside Leaburg Country Store.
Living on the river has inspired her to sculpt salmon and trout. Lisa's work also includes unique furniture pieces such as benches, tables, and lamps each integrating her artistic flair. Though Northwest wildlife inspires most of her sculptures, she welcomes your ideas for custom orders. Sculptures of pets are a big hit. She has a saw and she will travel if necessary.
