OHIO STATE FAIR HELPS CARVE A WISH
FOR CHILDREN
Masters of the Chainsaw
Columbus, July 28, 2006
The buzzing of a chainsaw. The smell of
freshly cut wood. No, it’s not the
description of a lumberjack at work. It’s
Masters of the Chainsaw wood carver Brian
Ruth.
A new attraction at this year’s Ohio
State Fair, Ruth is a professional wood
carver who skillfully cuts intricate designs
and beautiful objects out of a three-foot
log, using nothing more than his trusty
chainsaw. Utilizing his speed and ability,
he can produce an awe-inspiring work of
art in as little as thirty minutes.
This year, these visually impressive pieces
will be auctioned off with the help of the
Ohio Auctioneer’s Association. A portion
of the funds raised during this event will
be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation
to help a child in needs ultimate wish come
true.
Interested spectators can watch this master
at work daily at the 2006 Ohio State Fair,
Aug. 2 – 13 northeast of the Nationwide
Ag & Hort Building. Auctions for these
elaborate works of art will take place on
Saturday, Aug. 5 at 2 pm, Wednesday, Aug.
9 at 6 pm and Sunday, Aug. 13 at 2 pm.
The Ohio Expo Center is proud to host the
153rd Ohio State Fair. With a spectacular
Midway, big-name entertainment, hundreds
of exhibits and one of the largest junior
fair shows in the nation, the 2006 Ohio
State Fair will run August 2 - 13.
